Double faction, would have probably helped me 3 months ago.
And unless we get 90 rating in 2 days then the champ points won't happen. lower to 1100 maybe ^^.
pretty retarded, double fame would be better.

They made this system in the first place because some guilds farmed the ladder during the last double champ pt weekend...
Now not only these guilds can't farm champ pts again... the other 80% of the active gvg guilds can't get champ points either.
This weekend event is pretty useless :T

Double champ points was already a bad idea last time, with an influx of crappy teams with gimmick builds that farm the ladder and pile up a lot of champ points (even more than many of the top GvGers who have played in tournaments). Now with the ladder like this, making it a double champ points weekend is even worse. It encourages those top 25ish teams to keep playing this weekend to farm up lots of champion points that normal people take forever to get and create a bigger gap (title-wise) between the people who have farmed the ladder the past 2 months to get 1200+ and the people who are actually good but don't farm the ladder as much.

Double champ points event is good for the game coz during this time, the overpowered builds are being played. It much easier for skill balancer(s) to identify things to nerf.

never really thought of it that way tomcruise, but then again it still boosts the few that farm the ladder for a better title to boast their enflated ego at those of us who don't have the opportunity get that high into the ladder.
(not that i really care personally, pvp titles to me just means how much patience you have, and for most, with gimmick builds; not directly how good you are at the game)

Ephekt your on a roll, I was about to post the same thing. Why not look at the 4 star threads and hire a couple goons to do this work. To be honest I don't exactly know what it takes to run this game but lets crack this down while we're all here:
- Rotating(obviously) weekend events: should not take more then a few programs and a few discussions.
- Glitch Fixing: should take a few guys patch up some work here and there, unless they are eating donuts with the popo's.
- Design/Programming/Script/Art team: obvious, creative a good bulk of players.
- Balance Team: I don't know how many people are here, but they might as well run Globe Trotter jerseys.
In one weekend if you focused on these... 50% of the people would stop complaining.

Quoted for truth.... (btw, hi ) the last couple of months have been EXCEEDINGLY PAINFUL for players who only do gvg and not much else. All we have done really is mess about with lots of build ideas.. it was like the ladder was frozen to be honest. Not to mention the being UAX aspect as well. So it's a really cool IDEA to have a gvg weekend, but maybe not the greatest time for it.
The double faction will be great for some guilds i think. We're definitely going to grind to get some of our members fully unlocked and such. Only point to it really.
PS- please don't lower the champ point range again >D

I'm UAX.
Only 22 guilds are above 1200 rating.
Time to work on that defender title...

Double Champ points? Where does the line for guesting for cow this weekend start?!
Seriously though... there could have been better uses of the weekend. If they really wanted to get more people playing to indentify things, or just encourage play, at this point a double scoring system on guild battles (+/- 10 instead of 5) would have been more appropriate.

They should do something else along with it, like when they did the HA weekend they also did free/double drop for The Deep/Warren.

Agreed
Too many players are left out of this event

Anything that encourages guilds to GvG for the first time, or casual GvGers to GvG more is a good thing imo. Anything that helps Izzy rebalance skillsets (*cough* Rit Spike *cough*) is a good thing imo. A weekend event that does both is pretty awesome tbh.

I'm all for PvP weekends as well as PvE weekends, I won't participate in PvE weekends, they can chose not to play in PvP weekends, its great.
But this weekend is just pointless, the faction is a plus but GvG already gives ridiculous faction. I'm not UAX but I might as well be, there are so few skills worth having (especially if you specialise in a certain role in GvG) that unlocking them is more of an epeen thing than anything else.
Double champ points? /CLAP which genius came up with that one. Then again coming from the same people who buffed rits to the imbalanced spike machines they are now because the class concept is retarded and no one wants to play them nothing surprises me.
Want a fun GvG weekend?
I have an idea.
ATs.
Now.
Or just make the ladder have a normal amount of points gain.

Not that this suggestion would be any better, but winning team gets to open a chest (kind of like HoH, but not as cool) to get rewards.

I disagree. It's not really an epeen thing, it's worth UAX'ing if you play for multiple guilds that have multiple builds, but that applies if you don't specialize and play multiple roles. (AKA RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO or mercenary - take your pick)
Although, I'll agree that some skills will probably never need unlocking..

Bad event, bad time to introduce it. At this moment, UAX is popular within gvg players, and only about 20 guilds have 1200+ rating. While gvg people request ANet an emergency balance update badly then they make this event which encourage more brainless farming rating with imba and ghey builds like rit spike, discord, boa sins.
It would make more sense if they make it double faction for every type of pvp. Even a double XP from capping an elite weekend ( ZOMG !!) is better than this weekend.

If the problem is that people will run ritspike to win or lose fast, why would that make it any better -.-
